As part of this role, you’ll gain a nationally recognised qualification —fully funded by us—and develop a versatile skill set that could lead to senior technical or leadership positions in the future. What do you need to get started? Just a passion for the outdoors and a willingness to learn. It’s that simple. What does a Water Operator do? Picture a plumber fixing a burst pipe in your house. Now think about a leaking pipe in the street. Same problem. The only difference is you’re keeping your community’s water supply running. As a Water Operator, you’re regularly outdoors. You’re digging trenches, inspecting pipelines, and repairing broken water services. You’re learning a collection of skills that can set you on your way to a technical, management or leadership role. Your main concern is keeping the water supply network running. That’s finding and fixing faults on pipes and joints. It’s upgrading the water supply network and it’s understanding the-to-end water cycle and how water networks help your local community. You will be playing a big part in maintaining some of the 56,800km of pipelines that stretch across WA. Sounds good, what’s in it for me? Think of it like this: if a plumber fixes a burst pipe in your home, a Civil Operator does the same—but for the entire community. As a Civil Operator, you’ll be working outdoors, maintaining and repairing water and wastewater infrastructure. That means digging trenches, inspecting pipelines, and fixing faults in water and sewer services, pump stations, and tank sites. You’ll play a vital role in keeping Western Australia’s water supply running smoothly, helping maintain part of the 56,800 km of pipelines across the state. Along the way, you’ll gain hands‑on experience and build a skill set that can lead to technical, management, or leadership roles . You’ll also develop a deep understanding of the water cycle and how water networks support your local community. Sounds good, what’s in it for me? This full‑time role comes with a 9‑day fortnight , giving you a long weekend every second week to relax, recharge, or explore the great outdoors. But that’s just the beginning. Here are some of the benefits you’ll enjoy: Flexible working arrangements 17.5% leave loading when you take annual leave Annual leave travel concessions Wellness leave days Pro‑rata long service leave after just three years Purchased leave options —work four years at 80% salary and take the fifth year off, fully paid Professional development programs Standby roster opportunities for extra experience and income Add to that a supportive, family‑friendly culture , a competitive starting salary , and the chance to build a meaningful career with Water Corporation , and you’ve got a role that’s as rewarding as it is refreshing. What you’ll need to apply You’ll be out and about, so a WA MR class driver’s licence is essential. If you already hold a high‑risk licence, confined space certification, or a construction white card, chances are you’ve got some outdoor work experience—which is a great start. Sound like a match? Apply today If you are interested in the above opportunity, please submit a covering letter and resume that best demonstrates your skills and experience as well as your ability to meet the requirements of the role. Applications close 23 November 2025 As part of the recruitment process you will be required to complete Pre‑Employment screening which may include a medical, qualification check police clearance and Australian working rights check.
