Job Description The Claims Governance & Risk Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring robust risk and governance practices within TAL’s Claims function. The position delivers Line 1 Risk & Governance activities that support Claims teams across all channels and portfolios, strengthening compliance, enhancing risk management and driving continuous improvement. In This Role You Will Deliver timely Governance & Risk Management analysis and advice to the Claims business unit to enable commercial success and full compliance. Provide structured feedback and recommendations to manage risks identified on claims and claims practices in line with frameworks. Engage with stakeholders across TAL to identify opportunities for learning, improvement, and training. Identify trends with Customer Experience, Internal and External Disputes Resolutions teams to improve complaints resolution and provide guidance/training. Undertake reviews of correspondence from the LCCC and draft responses as required. Monitor delivery of audit recommendations across claims. Support Line 1 risk activities in collaboration with the broader Claims Governance and Risk team. Qualifications 5+ years experience in Risk Management, Compliance, or Technical Claims. Degree in a business‑related discipline (legal, accounting, commerce, risk). Sound understanding of legal and regulatory framework for life insurance. Experience in life insurance industry, claims handling, and complaints resolution. Ability to influence and achieve outcomes with senior management and stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication and ability to build relationships across all levels.
