Our Opportunity: Due to exponential growth, Nepean Conveyors is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Mackay, QLD. The role involves preparing and supervising mechanical engineering designs, drawings, specifications, schedules, quantity and cost estimates for new construction and maintenance improvement projects, among other duties. Responsibilities Prepare and supervise the preparation of mechanical engineering designs, drawings, specifications, schedules, quantity and cost estimates for a wide range of new construction and maintenance improvement projects. Plan, schedule and coordinate detailed phases of mechanical engineering work as part of major projects or entire smaller‑scope projects. Review contractors' mechanical submittals and work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Review consultants’ mechanical designs and submittal packages. Conduct field investigations of existing facilities and investigate contractual and construction problems that may arise on construction projects. Perform difficult engineering calculations and analysis in connection with mechanical design of utility systems and transportation facilities; supervise the preparation of detailed drawings for these facilities. Inspect and supervise a wide variety of ordinary and complex construction projects to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications. Assist in the preparation of complex contract documents. Prepare correspondence and technical engineering reports for a wide variety of projects. Work as part of a team with other engineers, drafting technicians and contracts personnel on planning, developing and finalizing technical and construction contract documents. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 5 years’ experience within a similar role. Appropriate qualification/training; technical competence. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and excellent problem‑solving skills. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
