Ranger in Charge (Infrastructure) & (NRM) Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks (GBR&MP) Region are excited to share an incredible opportunity for two x OO6 Ranger in Charge to join the team on a temporary basis. As one of the six regions of the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the GBR&MP Region delivers conservation and management activities across land and sea including implementing the Reef Joint Field Management Program in the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. Additionally, the Region oversees the state's southern marine parks - Great Sandy Marine Park and Moreton Bay Marine Park. There are two OO6 Ranger in Charge positions within the Far North Management Unit (FNMU) of the Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks Region (GBR&MP) - see Further Info field below for durations. Ranger in Charge (Infrastructure) This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dynamic team responsible for maintaining and developing critical infrastructure across the spectacular Far North Management Unit of the Great Barrier Reef and Marine Parks Region. As the Ranger in Charge (Infrastructure), you will oversee the planning and delivery of essential assets and facilities that support park operations and visitor experiences. Your leadership will ensure that infrastructure projects are delivered efficiently, sustainably, and to the highest standard—contributing to the protection and enjoyment of one of the world's most iconic natural environments. Ranger in Charge (Natural Resource Management) As the Ranger in Charge (NRM), you'll take the lead in managing and protecting the unique natural and cultural values of the Far North Management Unit. This specialist role focuses on delivering high-quality conservation outcomes through strategic natural resource management, fire, pest, and weed control programs. You'll guide a skilled team in implementing innovative land and sea management practices while collaborating with Traditional Owners, communities, and partner agencies. This is your chance to make a tangible difference in preserving the ecological integrity and cultural heritage of the Great Barrier Reef and surrounding landscapes. Role focus Plan and deliver programs and projects: Oversee the development and implementation of annual work programs and complex park management projects, including infrastructure maintenance, resource management, and environmental initiatives. Lead teams and operations: Manage staff, coordinate resources, and ensure effective delivery of work plans, compliance activities, and emergency response operations. Engage stakeholders and communities: Build strong relationships with landholders, government bodies, industry groups, Traditional Owners, and the public through consultation, education, and customer engagement. Ensure governance and cultural responsibility: Oversee administrative, financial, and reporting processes while fostering an inclusive workplace that supports Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultural outcomes. Qualifications Automatic or unrestricted manual driver's licence.
