Payroll Compliance Lead @ Uniting Care Queensland Make a meaningful difference with us: We’re on the lookout for a diligent Payroll Compliance Lead , who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and play a critical role, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of payroll operations across two distinct payroll teams servicing four customer groups. Operating within the Aurion and Chris21 systems, this role is responsible for leading compliance initiatives, driving process optimisation, and fostering cross‑functional collaboration to deliver high‑quality payroll services that meet legislative and organisational standards. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage payroll compliance activities including internal and external audits, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting. Ensure full compliance with Australian payroll legislation including QLeave, superannuation, taxation, Fair Work Act, and other employment standards. Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements across Aurion and Chris21 platforms. Collaborate with payroll teams to reduce manual interventions, enhance data accuracy, and improve service delivery. Build and maintain strong working relationships with Digital & Technology, Business, Finance, Strategy, and HR teams. Collaborate with system administrators and IT teams to ensure payroll systems are configured for compliance and efficiency. Troubleshoot system issues and recommend enhancements to improve compliance outcomes. Develop and maintain real‑time compliance dashboards, audit trails, and performance metrics. Analyse payroll data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare detailed reports for internal stakeholders, executive leadership, and external regulatory bodies. Contribute to strategic planning through data‑driven insights and recommendations. What you will bring: Extensive experience in payroll operations and compliance within complex, multi‑entity environments. In‑depth knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including QLeave, superannuation, taxation, and employment law. Hands‑on experience with Aurion and/or Chris21 payroll systems. Formal qualifications in Payroll, HR, Finance, Business, or related fields. Demonstrated ability to lead audits, manage compliance programmes, and implement process improvements. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills. A can‑do attitude, coupled with the willingness to go the extra mile. Effective time‑management skills and the ability to pivot priorities depending on the needs of the organisation. High attention to detail and accuracy; pro‑active approach to tasks.
