People in Payroll is thrilled to partner with a leading sporting organisation seeking an experienced Payroll Officer for a 9-month contract based in Melbourne. About the Role This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of fortnightly and ad hoc payrolls across a diverse workforce. You’ll manage end-end payroll functions, ensure compliance with legislation and EBAs, and play a key part in supporting a collaborative finance team. Key Responsibilities Accurately process fortnightly and ad hoc payrolls in accordance with legislation, awards, and EBAs. Maintain payroll and rostering databases, ensuring data integrity and compliance. Manage employee lifecycle transactions including new starters, changes, and terminations. Process leave applications, salary adjustments, superannuation, payroll tax obligations. Prepare and distribute payroll reports, statistics, and other required documentation. Respond to payroll queries promptly and professionally. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external required. Identify opportunities for process improvements and system efficiencies. About You Experience: 3+ years end‑to‑end payroll experience within a medium to large organisation. Technical Skills: Strong Excel skills and exposure to large payroll or HRIS systems (experience with Dayforce highly regarded). Knowledge: Good understanding of payroll legislation, superannuation, and EBAs/awards. Attributes: High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
