Stand-Alone Payroll Officer

STAND-ALONE PAYROLL OFFICER – $ K + SUPER – WFH 2 DAYS – SYD (MAQUARIE PARK) OR NEWCASTLE CBD Absolute Payroll is seeking an experienced payroll specialist with a minimum of five years' payroll expertise to take sole ownership of end-to-end payroll processes for approximately 300 employees. The position is based in Sydney Macquarie Park or Newcastle and offers full-time employment, with the flexibility to work 1–2 days a week from home. Responsibilities Manage end-to-end payroll for over 300 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Create and maintain payroll schedules, run payroll and manage related reports. Audit payroll and time‑keeping systems and resolve discrepancies. Interpret and apply multi‑state payroll requirements, awards, legislation and taxation. Collaborate with HR, Finance and other teams to improve payroll processes. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years' experience managing end-to-end payroll for 300+ employees. Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables. Solid understanding of multi‑state payroll requirements, awards, legislation and taxation. Experience auditing and managing payroll and time‑keeping systems. Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality and organisational skills. Clear, professional communication skills and ability to partner effectively with HR, Finance, and other teams. Proactive mindset and passion for process improvement.
