We are now seeking a talented and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team and help us continue offering outstanding Indian cuisine to our community. Role Overview As a Chef at Tamarind Modern Indian, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality Indian dishes while maintaining consistency, taste, and visual presentation. You will collaborate closely with the kitchen team to develop menu items, create seasonal specials, and ensure smooth operations during peak service times. This position is ideal for someone passionate about Indian cuisine, creative in the kitchen, and committed to teamwork and excellence. Key Responsibilities Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic Indian dishes with consistent flavour, quality, and presentation. Collaborate with the kitchen team to design seasonal menus, daily specials, and themed offerings for events. Strategically plan menus by balancing customer preferences, seasonal availability, cost efficiency, and innovation. Maintain high standards of portion control, plating, ingredient quality, food safety, and hygiene. Lead, mentor, and train junior kitchen staff, promoting a positive, professional, and collaborative kitchen culture. Manage stock levels, ordering, prep schedules, and workflow to support efficiency and minimise waste. Assist with catering, functions, special events, and contribute to menu pricing, culinary trends, and continuous improvement. Qualifications & Experience Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent). Minimum of 1 year experience as a Chef in a busy commercial kitchen. Strong background in Indian cuisine is highly desirable, though skilled chefs with a passion to learn are welcome. Excellent knowledge of modern cooking methods, spice blending, and menu development. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high quality standards. Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
