Ongoing, Full‑Time Shift Work opportunity (shift work – 24/7 roster including nights and weekends). VPS Grade 3: $79,122 – $96,073 plus superannuation. About This Role The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Officer, State Public Information to provide a critical role within Emergency Management Communications. Responsibilities Work in the State Control Centre Public Information team as part of Victoria's operational emergency response. Create and publish emergency information and warnings, manage the VicEmergency social media channels, and support media requirements. Support projects that enhance public information. Community‑focused communications to help keep Victorians safe before, during and after emergencies. This role involves working on site at the State Control Centre, on rotations of four days on, four days off. Successful candidates will be required to work changing shift times, including outside normal business hours, nights and weekends, to support the 24/7 nature of emergency response. What skills and knowledge should an Officer, State Public Information have? We are looking for someone who is motivated and passionate about keeping communities safe during emergencies. You'll need to thrive in a dynamic environment, be driven to achieve outcomes and be flexible and adaptable. Ideal Candidate Well‑developed verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of different agencies and stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in digital and media communications across multiple platforms. Demonstrated knowledge of Victoria's emergency management arrangements (desirable). A positive, can‑do attitude. Proven ability to work independently or as part of a team. Well‑developed decision‑making and problem‑solving skills. Qualifications Tertiary qualifications or relevant experience in an appropriate discipline (such as marketing, communications, or a related discipline) are desirable.
