Senior Officer, State Public Information - Melbourne CBD Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria About This Role: Ongoing, full time (shift work – 24/7 roster including nights and weekends). VPS4 salary between $97,955 - $111,142 + superannuation. What will the role do? Work in the State Control Centre Public Information team as part of Victoria's operational emergency response. Create and publish emergency information and warnings, manage the VicEmergency social media channels and support media requirements. Lead and contribute to projects that enhance public information. Community-focused communications to help keep Victorians safe before, during and after emergencies. What skills and knowledge should a Senior Officer, State Public Information have? Well-developed written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of different agencies and stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in digital and media communications across multiple platforms. Demonstrated knowledge of Victoria's emergency management arrangements. Previous experience in providing information and/or advice to communities during an emergency (desirable). A positive, can-do attitude. Proven ability to productively work independently or as part of a team. Well-developed strategic thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills. Developed leadership skills and ability to be accountable and proactive. Motivation to achieve outcomes and key team priorities. Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline (such as marketing, communications, or a related discipline) are desirable.
