Applications Close: Thursday, 4th July 2024 Allied Health Assistant Newcastle About us: The Eating Disorders Day Program (EDDP) offers intensive outpatient treatment for adults diagnosed with eating disorders. Consumers attend the program from 8 AM to 2 PM, four days a week. Our program includes meals (breakfast, morning tea, and lunch) and participation in group therapy sessions. The multidisciplinary team consists of a manager, clinical psychologist, dietitian, and occupational therapist and is based at James Fletcher Campus, Newcastle CBD. This role supports the clinical team in delivering various therapeutic activities as part of the day program for individuals with eating disorders. These activities help clients in different areas of their lives to aid their recovery. A key part of the job is providing and supporting meals, including tasks like shopping and food preparation and maintaining food inventory.

This is a permanent position for 16 hours a week, working on Monday 7:30am - 1:00pm, Wednesday 7:30am - 1:30pm and Friday 7:30am - 1:30pm.

You will be included in all team forums including daily handover/planning sessions and regular team meetings. The role will be primarily guided by the Dietitian but will interface with all of the clinical team depending on the tasks e.g dietitians for food service, manager for operational issues. There will be a period of orientation to the service and any training that might be needed to successfully undertake the role in this specialised setting.

About you:

We are looking for someone with experience in food preparation, whether formal or informal, and a genuine interest in cooking. Our ideal candidate should be willing to support the team in various tasks, including cleaning and administrative duties. Strong time management skills are crucial, as is the ability to communicate effectively with both clients and team members.

You are organised, dependable, and eager to contribute to a supportive and therapeutic environment.
