The Opportunity: We are seeking a Senior Policy and Advocacy Advisor to play a pivotal part in ensuring that research outputs are translated into real‑world practice and policy. Our successful candidate will lead initiatives to build strategic collaborations with industry, government and other key stakeholders, securing financial partnerships and fostering innovation that aligns with TGI's strategic vision. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about shaping the future of healthy ageing research. Key Responsibilities and Duties Develop and advise on advocacy and policy engagement strategies, aligned with strategic research priorities. Contribute to the development of submissions to government consultations and calls for evidence, and support the organisation of policy briefings, roundtables and other events. Lead and support engagement between researchers and local, regional, national and international policymakers including representatives of healthcare providers, multilaterals and funders. Lead engagement with civil society groups, NGOs, Australia/Pacific‑based advocacy networks and community‑based organisations, to build collaborations and partnerships, amplify advocacy initiatives and centre the voices of people with lived experience in the team's research. Engage with government agencies, industry partners and advocacy groups with a view to developing partnerships that deliver financial and in‑kind contributions for implementation research. Develop or collaborate on compelling materials and activities promoting evidence from TGI’s dementia and intergenerational research that has clear implications for policy and/or practice. Collaborate with the Impact and Engagement team to ensure alignment with Institute‑wide policy advocacy and engagement and contribute to strengthening capacity across the organisation. Contribute to funding applications. Qualifications More than 10 years post‑qualification experience in policy, research impact or stakeholder engagement. Recognised as a subject‑matter expert with deep knowledge in at least one specialist area and strong understanding of multiple domains. Proven track record in managing complex projects and influencing policy at national or international level. Experience in securing funding and building partnerships with government and industry. Advanced analytical and strategic thinking: ability to interpret complex data and design innovative solutions. Excellent presentation and negotiation skills; able to engage diverse audiences. Demonstrates cultural awareness and builds international networks. Challenges the status quo, develops innovative ideas and ensures alignment with Institute strategy; plans effectively, prioritises tasks and delivers results under pressure.
