About the Role The primary purpose of this role is to oversee and enhanceclinical health screening services by ensuring quality and safety standards aremet, while complying with regulatory requirements. This involves monitoringindustry trends, collaborating with medical professionals and stakeholders, andproviding strategic guidance based on research and national directives. Therole also requires effective negotiation and communication to securestakeholder buy-in and influence key decisions. Additionally, it involves riskmanagement, strategic planning, and leading professional developmentinitiatives to maintain high standards in medical screening practices. Responsibilities Duties Guideand supervise the clinical health screening services provided directly byicare, ensuring adherence to the necessary standards of quality and safetywhile complying with relevant Safety and Quality regulations. Monitorand respond to emerging trends and developments, ensuring effectivecontrols are in place and all reporting, regulatory, and statutoryrequirements are fulfilled. Collaboratewith and influence medical screening clinicians, Medical Assessment Panelmembers, Dust Diseases Board and the Health Screening leadership team toevaluate and review the guidance and approaches, particularly in responseto research findings and national guidance. Negotiateand offer persuasive, commercially viable, professional advice andsolutions within the dust diseases sector, taking into account prevention,exposure, screening, diagnosis, care, emerging research, best practiceguidance, and legislative requirements. Createeffective relationships with key internal senior stakeholders andinfluence them regarding the value of the medical screening serviceinitiatives based on sound research and evidence. Serveas an observer on the Medical Assessment Panel and engage in HealthMonitoring Assessment Sessions and Clinical Governance Committee meetingsto ensure that consistency, continuity, and quality controls aremaintained effectively. Manageassociated risks and issues to ensure they are accurately identified,assessed, controlled, and reviewed, maintaining quality assurance in thechange management of medical screening services. Communicateregularly with all key stakeholders to ensure that objectives areconsistently met. Engagein and contribute to strategic and business planning processes, aligningthe development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic healthcareinitiatives with organizational objectives and outcomes. Takea leading role in resolving escalated issues related to medical screeningservices. Monitorclinician practices to ensure consistent, best practice service deliveryand promptly address professional development needs. Supervise,mentor, and provide ongoing professional development to medical andclinical staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement andresearch. Buildand maintain strong working relationships with internal and external peersand stakeholders to effectively share information regarding medicalscreening services. Collaborateclosely with the DDC Leadership team, Manager of Clinical Practice,Manager of Research and Education, and Manager of Stakeholder Engagementto ensure the screening model operates efficiently. Conductregular audits and reviews of clinical procedures and practices, ensuringalignment with best industry standards, national guidelines, and recentresearch evidence Liaisewith relevant regulatory bodies and stakeholders (e.g., SafeWork NSW,employers/clients) to maintain up-to-date compliance with occupationalhealth and safety legislation Overseethe documentation and record-keeping of health screening data, ensuringcompliance with privacy laws and best practices in medical recordmanagement Requirements Skills & Expertise Experiencein lung health, respiratory medicine, or occupational dust diseases (e.g.,silicosis, asbestosis, COPD). Understandingof imaging techniques (e.g., HRCT, X-ray B-reader certification) if therole involves radiological assessments Experiencein leading teams in a clinical or health screening setting. Strongknowledge of clinical governance, quality assurance, and risk management. Experiencein policy development and implementing best practices in health screening. Abilityto interpret screening data to drive continuous improvement. Knowledgeof workplace health and safety laws and national occupational screeningguidelines. Familiaritywith workers’ compensation schemes and occupational health regulations. Experiencewith AI in radiology, occupational health innovations, or epidemiologicalresearch.
