Opportunity to lead end-to-end product development, from formulation through to full‑scale manufacturing. Task & responsibilities Formulate and optimise silane, silicone, and polyurethane coatings for automotive applications through advanced laboratory experimentation. Conduct performance testing, including durability, adhesion, UV stability, chemical resistance, and surface property evaluations. Lead the scale‑up of new formulations from laboratory prototypes to pilot batches and full‑scale manufacturing. Develop and maintain SOPs, batch sheets, and quality control standards for production teams. Troubleshoot formulation and production issues by analysing chemical, physical, and process‑related data. Manage raw material qualification, SDS documentation, and compliance with chemical safety and environmental regulations. Oversee quality control testing of in‑process and finished products to ensure consistency and adherence to specifications. Collaborate with Production, Sales, and QA teams to support product launches, customer trials, and technical enquiries. Maintain accurate technical documentation, including formulation records, test reports, and stability studies. Provide technical leadership by mentoring junior chemists and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across R&D and production. Qualification & experience Senior‑level R&D and production experience with at least: Years applied R&D experience, and as a Production Chemist in coatings, polymers, or specialty chemicals. Demonstrated expertise in the formulation of silanes, silicones, and polyurethane systems. Strong background in scale‑up processes, manufacturing transfer, and quality control. Proficient in polymer chemistry, analytical testing techniques, and materials characterization. Excellent problem‑solving, documentation, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple development projects simultaneously.
