About the job Van der Meer Consulting is a Structural, Civil and Hydraulic consulting engineering group with offices in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. This rapidly expanding company is currently seeking a suitably qualified Senior Civil Engineer for our Brisbane office. Our Brisbane Civil team is a high energy environment where we pride ourselves on communication and honesty with our clients. We work together and strive to operate at an elite level of both quality and performance. We work on engineering projects of all sizes and types. There is nothing we say we can’t do. Education and Experience: The successful candidate will have the following: Minimum Bachelor of Engineering in Civil. CPEng and/ or RPEQ accredited or actively pursuing CPEng/ RPEQ status. Minimum 6 years’ civil engineering experience gained within a consultancy environment preferred. Must be proficient in SW and Water/Sewer design within SEQ Councils. Must have sound understanding of DA/ OPW/CA/ Post Construction within SEQ. Have demonstrated experience in the design of relevant projects including: Road & Drainage Design, Bulk Earthwork Design, Stormwater & Flood Analysis, Client liaison and Project control. Experience with flexible pavement design to Australian standards is desirable. Have experience managing and running multiple projects at once. Capable of preparing quotes/proposals with an appreciation of budgets. Work directly with our office Associate Director across a range of diverse projects at all phases of the consulting cycle. Skills and Personal Attributes: Sound knowledge and application of Australian Standard design codes, relevant design techniques and construction procedures and techniques. Be keen to learn new and innovative design techniques. Experience in the use of software such as Autocad, DRAINs software, MUSIC and Microsoft Office. Experience with Civil 3D and/ or 12D design software is desirable. Problem-solving and decision-making skills Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to communicate and work with other engineers, architects and design managers. Be enthusiastic and committed to facilitating client needs. Supervise team, distributing and prioritising workload in fast paced environment. Ability to lead and mentor junior staff. Must demonstrate initiative and be a team player.
