About the Role The Business Manager 2 works with the school principal and school executive and is responsible for the efficient management of the school’s business functions including administration, asset management, procurement, finance and work health and safety. The Business Manager 2 reports to the principal or delegate. The Business Manager 2 may be required to supervise and lead the school administrative team, supervise non‑teaching staff and manage the work of contractors. The Business Manager 2 may lead and manage projects and business functions in collaboration with other school staff. Blakehurst High School is a highly successful co‑educational comprehensive school. The student population is approximately 1020 students, with 580 students who have English as an additional language or dialect (EAL / D), 16 Aboriginal students and 24 International students. The school's staffing entitlement is 71.9 teaching staff and 13.2 school administrative and support staff. The ratio of beginning to experienced teachers is 12.73%. Blakehurst High School has a history of strong academic excellence with the delivery of outstanding evidence based teaching and learning programs. It is a dynamic school with a strong student voice and many leadership and extra curricula opportunities. The school enjoys the support of its diverse community and has successful partnerships with the University of Technology, University of Wollongong, E.L.I.T.E Table Tennis Club, St George Basketball, Kogarah Cougars, St George Basketball, Connells Point Rovers Soccer and St George Rugby League. The school is the largest representative in the St George Sporting Zone and many students compete at regional and state level. The school is strong in performing and creative arts, participating in regional dance ensembles, State Choir ensembles, and Schools Spectacular. The school holds a creative and performing arts open night annually and musical performance biannually. The majority of the school's equity funding will be used to support initiatives in the 2024‑2027 School Excellence Plan. Specific Selection Criteria Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and work effectively as part of a team. Demonstrated ability to undertake and manage financial and accounting functions including the use of computerised financial / administrative systems. Well‑developed oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact with school staff, students and members of the school community. Special Notes This is an Above Centrally Identified permanent non‑teaching position established through school funds. The successful candidate’s continued appointment to this position will be subject to the continuity of this funding, the ongoing requirement for the role and the educational needs of the school. Should the funding or the requirement for the position cease, the officer will receive priority consideration for placement at an alternative location.
