We’re looking for a Junior UX Writer to help us in our mission to nurture the ambition of thousands of Australian and New Zealand small‑medium businesses. Our Research & Design Team aims to take the stress out of bookkeeping, by designing intuitive accounting and payroll products informed by customer research and data. We obsess about the customer, collaborate across the business, and value co‑designing. As Reckon’s Junior UX Writer, you’ll be focused on making complex content consumable for a wide range of user groups across varying channels. Our goal is to empower our users to confidently use our software to stay compliant with the ATO and other government departments. This means a focus on helpful and clear content in our products, onboarding journeys, and help articles. Our subject matter is heavily regulated and complex, and you’ll be someone who can help extract important information and transform it into understandable, usable content – whether that be long‑form help articles or short, clear button labels. Together with our Senior UX Writer, you'll focus on delivering high quality and impactful product‑related content, in line with our overarching content strategy and with a deep understanding of how content contributes to great UX. Our work has seen us make a big impact on our customers and throughout the business. Growing our content design function will further deepen our impact, with some exciting opportunities for you to be involved in strategic content projects that will take us to the next level. You’ll be embedded in the Research & Design Team and will work across the business creating content for different customer archetypes. Working under the guidance of our Senior UX Writer, you’ll drive the voice of Reckon for our customers when it comes to using our products, consult on content design matters, and uphold our content strategy. We’re a small R&D team of 8, who are empowered to ask the big questions, move swiftly, and enjoy spending time with each other – whether that’s jamming on designs, or heading out for coffee walks and lunches on our 3 office days each week. What You’ll Do Work closely with our Senior UX Writer to implement Reckon’s product content strategy, becoming our dream content team Craft in‑product copy, help documentation, and onboarding content that embodies our tone of voice and content guidelines and adheres to UX principles and our content strategy Work closely with Design, Product, Support and Marketing, advising on content as features are designed and released Work with product experts to translate technical detail into intuitive, easy to understand language for non‑experts Support the Senior UX Writer to socialise our content guidelines and strategy across the business, acting as a sounding board for others on content design matters Suggest refinements to our copywriting process and approach, to mature our content practice Explore and use AI tools to optimise the content process Analyse data points from across the business (e.g. call drivers, churn drivers, analytics) to identify patterns to validate through research; and use these insights to inform your content design Follow content timelines, and raise any risks and issues Maintain content lifecycles and schedules for refreshing content Work closely with our UX Researcher to test messaging and content with users Skills and experience A portfolio of work outlining your process and content examples (e.g. content planning, templates, journeys, published work). Good understanding of human centred design, UX principles and designing content for accessibility Thorough understanding of content design principles and process Strong attention to detail Adept communicator, particularly with presenting work and storytelling Great problem‑solving skills Experience creating customer‑facing content and simplifying complex information to meet diverse user needs Able to context switch and manage time effectively, as there will be numerous initiatives on your plate Nice to have Experience or interest in fintech and small businesses Experience with accounting and payroll products Understanding of SEO Content editing skills in Figma Research has shown how marginalised groups of people and women may not apply for jobs unless they meet 100% of the skills and experience.
