About Peach Tree Peach Tree is a community based mental health organisation that provides services for parents, partners, and families who are impacted by emotional and mental health challenges in the period of pregnancy and early parenthood. About the role In this role, your lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges will be applied in a professional capacity to support others. You'll walk alongside parents through pregnancy and early parenthood, offering connection, understanding, and trauma‑informed support in a warm and culturally safe environment. Responsibilities include: Co‑facilitate peer support groups, including structured programs, and community spaces such as playgroups. Guide culturally grounded practice at Peach Tree by nurturing relationships with local First Nations community groups and supporting meaningful engagement with families. Weave cultural knowledge into everyday peer work. Reporting to the Team Leader Moreton Bay, the First Nations Peer Support Worker will also play an important role in guiding culturally grounded practice at Peach Tree. Hours: 16.5 hours over 3 days per week – we’re flexible and open to finding a schedule that suits you, ideally including two days across Tuesday to Thursday. Location: Primarily our Parent Wellbeing Centre at Morayfield, with one shift per week at Nundah. Pay: Hourly rate of $38.65 + super & salary packaging (SCHAD's Level 3). Contract: Fixed‑term through to 30th June 2026 with strong possibility of extension, subject to funding. This position is a designated Lived Experience role. To best support the families we work with, Peer Support Workers are required to have personal experience of perinatal mental health challenges. Additionally, this role is open only to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people. This requirement reflects the importance of cultural knowledge and identity in providing effective, culturally safe support to First Nations families, and is recognised as a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti‑Discrimination Act 1991. About You Identify as a First Nations person and are committed to supporting families in ways that are culturally safe, respectful, and grounded in community and connection. Bring lived experience of mental health challenges related to pregnancy, childbirth, or early parenthood and feel ready to share that experience in a purposeful way. Are passionate about walking alongside parents with compassion, confidentiality, and without judgement, offering hope and understanding through peer connection. Hold or are willing to obtain a Working with Children Check (Blue Card), National Police Check, and Pertussis (Whooping Cough) vaccination. What we offer Flexible & supportive workplace.
