Make a difference Social visitors needed for elderly gent in Shepparton. Join our visiting team. Flexible hours, just one visit a week or fortnight makes a difference Volunteering with Elder Rights Australia helps improve the health and wellbeing of older Victorians. It is also a great opportunity for you to gain personal satisfaction, contribute your talents and experience, and gain new skills. Responsibilities Introduce yourself to an older person in their home or aged care facility who is experiencing feelings of social isolation. Build a meaningful friendship by providing companionship that reduces feelings of loneliness and encourages social connection. Visit with the older person at least fortnightly (weekly is preferred). Engage in varied activities that suit both parties, such as playing a game, chatting, a gentle walk, reading or listening to music. Engage, communicate, and receive support from your program officer. Complete simple monthly surveys. About you Must be 18+. Have a genuine interest in easing loneliness in older people. Show empathy and compassion. Be able to actively listen and engage with older people. Maintain clear boundaries and confidentiality. Be reliable, flexible, and confident to work independently without direct supervision while seeking support and guidance as required. Benefits to you Improved self‑confidence and self‑esteem.
