Lead Mechanical Engineer (Turbogenerator) in Happy Valley We are partnering with an innovative renewable energy company that is harnessing the power of the open ocean—Earth's largest and most power-dense renewable resource—to deliver abundant, affordable clean energy. They are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to play a critical role in the design, development, and deployment of the turbogenerator within their core technology. This is a hands‑on position where you'll guide the technical vision while also prototyping, testing, and problem‑solving alongside a world‑class team. What You'll Do: Lead the design, development, and integration of the turbogenerator system. Define and own performance requirements and design goals. Design and analyze key components: shafts, housings, bearings, dynamic seals, turbine blades, and stators. Select advanced materials and coatings for long‑term marine deployment. Collaborate across electromagnetics, controls, fluid dynamics, and marine operations teams. Drive manufacturability, offshore assembly, and serviceability in design. Lead and participate in design reviews with internal teams and external vendors. Oversee documentation, drawings, and tolerance analysis. Mentor technicians and guide prototyping, fabrication, and testing. Troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and iterate designs. Utilize high‑end CAD (NX), PDM (Teamcenter), and FEA tools. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related. Extensive experience with rotating machinery (pumps, turbines, compressors, turbochargers, etc.). 5+ years of 3D CAD modeling experience. Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack‐ups, and FEA. Hands‑on experience assembling tight‑tolerance rotating equipment. Proven ability to manage projects from concept through test and deployment. Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills. Desired Qualities (a plus, not required): Advanced degree or additional 5 years of experience. Prior leadership of engineering teams. Background in marine/offshore machinery design. Experience with subsea bearings, hydrodynamic/hydrostatic bearings, or piping systems. Familiarity with rapid prototyping and instrumentation/controls. NX/Teamcenter, NASTRAN, FEMAP, or similar analysis software. Programming/data analysis with Python or Julia.
