About the Opportunity We have a great opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Maritime business based either at Osborne, SA or Melbourne, Vic . If you are based outside Adelaide, occasional travel to Osborne may be required. This role is part of the PI Production Engineering Team within the DCE DDG program. You will review engineering artefacts, identify and assess mechanical issues, and provide impact assessments for new drawing releases. You will work with key stakeholders to resolve issues and propose solutions prior to production. Key Responsibilities Assist with engineering change reviews and design reviews of artefacts for production, manufacturing, and assembly as part of the DCE DDG upgrade program. Advise and define production techniques for assembly and test processes to ensure on‑time delivery of cost‑competitive, high‑quality products. Input into design for manufacturability. Provide recommendations and introduce new ways to identify defects and anomalies in design artefacts. Act as an engineering technical liaison between Engineering, Production, Planning, Supply Chain, and PMs. Support the DCE DDG cataloguing team by providing technical advice. Provide metadata from engineering artefacts to support the development of CoConsole for OQEs. Ensure all tasks are conducted safely, complying with WHS legislation and BAE Systems SHEQ policies. Participate in problem identification and analysis. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Demonstrated experience in mechanical or structural design, review, and analysis of mechanical drawings/artefacts, preferably in a production environment. Experience in a maritime or ship‑building environment is highly desirable. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong stakeholder engagement skills – written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with competing tasks and priorities. Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain one. Eligibility for International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR) clearance.
