Electrical Engineer

Precept Services Pty Ltd is seeking a talented and passionate electrical engineer (or similar) who is interested in forging a satisfying and successful engineering career. We are looking for an engineer with two or more years of experience working as an electrical engineer (or similar) in the industrial concreting/mining sector. Precept Services have a strong focus on developing and empowering our engineers into capable and confident industry leaders. Precept Services engineers are fully immersed in the engineering process. We follow our projects from initial costings and preliminary design through to installation and commissioning. This provides our engineers with exposure to the entire project lifecycle and valuable lessons learned with design feedback to take forward to the next project. As part of the team, you will have the opportunity to learn from our existing processes whilst offering your own contributions and ideas. Our highly experienced staff and diverse projects will provide the environment and challenges you require to learn and grow as an engineer. Opportunities will be varied and plenty, but may include undertaking the following: Responsibilities Electrical design, from electrical distribution, switchboard design, to control and instrumentation circuits, and equipment selection; Power System Analysis studies (LV) inclusive of Protection studies and protection scheme design Load flow and short circuit analysis Arc flash analysis and mitigation studies Harmonics analysis; Problem solving and solution development: solve complex problems with engineered solutions; Hands‑on site experience inclusive of audits and inspections, condition assessments, testing and commissioning. Instrumentation implementation incorporating the more technical aspects of industrial concreting/mining electrical equipment Mandatory Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent); Preferred minimum two years of relevant work experience as an Electrical Engineer (or equivalent) in the industrial industry focused on concrete plants, quarries & mining applications; Eligibility for Membership to Engineers Australia; Enthusiasm for engineering and technology; with strong communication skills; Familiarity with Australian electrical standards, including AS/NZS3000, AS/NZS3008 & switchboard standard AS/NZS61439 as well as individual state Service & Installation Rules; Proficiency with AutoCAD &/or Powercad; Knowledge of configuration, programming & commissioning of PLCs (Allen Bradley) and SCADA/HMI systems; Programming skills and experience, particularly in C/C++ & Arduino; Knowledge and experience with electrical and controls design and commission, instrumentation and communication networks; Understanding of computer networks and protocols including ethernet, Modbus & RS232/485 interfacing; Computer literacy in at least Microsoft Operating Systems and Office; Full Australian working rights and no visa restrictions. Competencies (knowledge, skills, and behaviours) Design software: AutoCAD, PowerPac PLC software: CCW, RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, Studio5000 SCADA/HMI software: CitectSCADA, AVEVA, FactoryTalk View ME & SE, Crimson Comms networks/protocols: ethernet, modbus, I2C, RF, RS232/485 Electrical Equipment: Schneider, NHP, Terasaki, Allen Bradley - including drives, overloads & other smart electronics Practical engineering experience in the industrial industry, specifically focused on concrete plants, quarries & mining applications Effective communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate requests and instructions to individuals and groups.
