Grounded in lived experience, our approach empowers carers to achieve their goals, maintain relationships and balance responsibilities. About the Role As a Carer Gateway Counsellor, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering in‑person counselling services that are inclusive, person‑centred and responsive to the diverse needs of carers. Responsibilities Provide counselling through in‑person sessions, phone and virtual platforms. Travel to meet carers in their communities. Enjoy working in a team, office and hub location. Facilitate therapeutic groups and workshops. Some days you might conduct five individual 1:1 counselling sessions and on another day you might travel to a local community centre to facilitate a Grief and Loss group for carers who have a loved one living with Dementia. Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, Outlook and an information management system is essential, alongside your clinical skillset. The Carer Gateway space is evolving, and we need a counsellor who can adapt with grace , respond with creativity and stay grounded while navigating reform. What You’ll Need Accreditation with one of the following: Australian Counselling Association (ACA) Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) – accredited ordinary member Experience with clinical therapies such as Rogerian and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Background in similar roles, ideally within large or complex organisations. Professional indemnity insurance. Valid Australian working rights. Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel. Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module (free online course). Satisfactory National Police Records Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (Employee/Paid). Ability to use information management systems effectively to uphold Carer Gateway standards of timely, accurate and person‑centred service documentation.
