Let’s make a meaningful difference, together Your part in our UnitingCare team Our Men Choosing Change Counsellor & Group Facilitators play a pivotal role within the MCC Program, operating within a multi‑disciplinary team. The primary focus of this role is to facilitate behaviour change programmes and undertake assessments, counselling, referrals and case reviews for a range of clients, including facilitating group programmes for men who are referred due to their use of violence and abuse within their intimate relationships. The position requires: A deep understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and counselling practices A high degree of experience in client work Professional epistemological (framework) awareness Creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore the underlying causes of their behaviour, understand the impact of their actions, and develop healthier ways of relating to others Travel and court support Key Responsibilities include: Facilitate behaviour change programmes for men who perpetrate domestic violence, promoting accountability and positive change Provide individual intake/review and group sessions to clients, utilising evidence‑based practices Implement safety planning for clients and their families, ensuring a focus on risk management and the cessation of violence Networking with the police and criminal justice sector and other agencies and services who work in the field of domestic and family violence. What makes a difference for us? A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field, including Social Science, Psychology, Social Work or Counselling. Demonstrated experience in domestic and family violence, with a strong understanding of the dynamics and impacts. Proven fundamentals in counselling practice, with a high degree of experience in client work. Epistemological awareness and ability to work within individual frameworks. Expertise in safety planning and risk assessment. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills. Ability to work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team.
