The school has a current student enrolment of 420 students, of which 98% come from a language background other than English. The school offers a Community Language Program which supports the Arabic‑speaking students in maintaining and developing their home language. There are currently no Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students enrolled. Lakemba Public School has a School as Community Centre (SaCC) onsite which is led by a facilitator who is responsible for coordinating a variety of community engagement initiatives. The programmes include supported playgroups, transition to school initiatives, breakfast club and adult learning. The school is establishing three support classes in 2026 to cater to the needs of students with disabilities. Lakemba Public School has a dedicated team of professional, collaborative teaching and non‑teaching staff with various skills and experiences, committed to explicit teaching practices to support student learning and wellbeing. The school has a focus on professional development to ensure all students, including High Potential and Gifted learners, meet their potential. High‑level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community. 4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning. 5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning. 6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure, a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis.
