DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Assess and diagnose speech, language, and social communication disorders, including AAC and feeding/swallowing functions. Observe clients to identify the nature and extent of communication and swallowing difficulties. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results and family input. Provide one-on-one therapy sessions to enhance communication and feeding skills. Provide counseling, advice, and education to clients and families as part of comprehensive treatment plans. Monitor and document client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary. Prepare comprehensive reports summarising assessment findings, therapy progress, and recommendations. Advise on safe body positioning and food or fluid textures to support safe eating and swallowing. Deliver information, training, and education to relevant parties, and offer counseling and support to those affected by communication and swallowing challenges. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care and address related health issues. Work with other health professionals in overall case management of clients. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current research, technologies, and best practices in adult speech pathology. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Speech Pathology. Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Speech Pathologist/Speech-Language Therapist. Currently registered with Speech Pathology Australia. Valid driver’s license and reliable transport for community visits (preferred). Intermediate IT skills, including proficiency with computers and mobile devices, and a willingness to embrace new technology. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Evidence of current SPA registration or a willingness to attain it.
