We care for thousands of children each year in our hospitals and in their homes — with one purpose in mind — to help young people live their healthiest lives. Sydney Children’s Hospital Psychology Department is seeking to recruit a permanent part‑time Clinical Psychologist 32 hours per week to provide psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions to children and young people with a diagnosis of cancer. The caseload is primarily children and young people currently receiving treatment. The Clinical Psychologist will work closely with the multi‑disciplinary Kids Cancer team to promote optimal outcomes for patients. The Psychology Department has an established culture of collegiality, respect, reflective practice, professional supervision and support. Applicants currently enrolled in a combined Masters/PhD are eligible to apply if they have completed the equivalent of Masters degree requirements as part of the PhD pathway. Evidence of this is demonstrated by a completed PDEC‑76 form and cover letter from the University confirming Masters degree requirements have been met. Applicants are eligible to apply if they have completed an accredited Masters degree and are awaiting their graduation ceremony. Written confirmation from the University is required. Successful applicants who have completed the Masters degree or Masters degree requirements and are awaiting full registration from the Psychology Board of Australia will be paid at Year 2 of the Psychologist Scale until they have full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, at which point they will commence on Year 1 of the Clinical Psychologist scale. What you'll be doing The Clinical Psychologist provides assessment and therapeutic intervention to children and young people referred for emotional, behavioural, social and adjustment difficulties by the Kids Cancer Centre at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick. The Clinical Psychologist will work within a multi‑disciplinary team of Staff Specialists, Clinical Nurse Consultants, Allied Health clinicians and fellow Clinical Psychologists. The Clinical Psychologist will work with the child, family and multi‑disciplinary team, in optimising the health and wellbeing of the child/young person. The Clinical Psychologist is a member of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Psychology Department. The department consists of Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Neuropsychologists. The department has an established culture of professional support and peer supervision. All psychologists are required to perform administrative and professional duties in addition to their clinical role. About You Has full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Full endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia in the area of Clinical Psychology or eligible to progress to same with the Psychology Board of Australia. Demonstrates understanding of emotional, social and behavioural issues and comorbidities that can arise for children with chronic and/or complex medical conditions.
