Join Our Team as a Strategic Planner Location: Sutherland Shire, New South Wales. Job Overview Join our dedicated team in the Urban Futures - Strategic Planning unit of Sutherland Shire Council. This full‑time, permanent position offers you the chance to engage with complex planning issues, collaborate with experts, and make a tangible impact on land use and development controls. As a Strategic Planner, you will work closely with the Planning and Strategy Manager and Senior Manager of Urban Futures, dive into project‑based initiatives, and actively participate in preparing vital land use strategies and policies. Your insights and innovative ideas will help us navigate the challenges of urban planning and environmental management. Candidate Profile We are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about urban planning and eager to contribute to the community. If you possess the following qualities, we want to hear from you: Tertiary qualifications in environmental planning or a related discipline, or nearing completion of relevant postgraduate qualifications. A solid understanding of planning issues and practices, coupled with strong research and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to convey complex ideas simply and clearly. Proficiency in IT, with a desire to leverage advanced tools such as GIS and computer modelling. In this role, you will not only develop your planning expertise but also enhance your teamwork and communication skills while being mentored by experienced professionals. You'll have the chance to lead and collaborate on exciting projects, gaining invaluable experience in the field. Benefits and Conditions Salary: From $88,129 – $111,514 gross p.a. plus 12% superannuation, determined based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. Hours of work: Permanent Full Time, 35 hours per week, with an option of a 19‑day month flex‑time arrangement available.
