Senior Hospital Scientist – Molecular Pathology St Vincent’s Health Australia, Australia’s largest not‑for‑profit provider of health and aged care services, is seeking a Senior Hospital Scientist to lead the Molecular Pathology department at St Vincent’s Hospital Darlinghurst. About the Role Lead and supervise laboratory operations, ensuring effective delivery of Cancer Genetics services for the St Vincent’s campus and other major clients. Manage laboratory resources through rostering, staff supervision, training and performance reviews while maintaining equipment and consumables. Ensure analytical excellence by validating and verifying new test methods, authoring SOPs and critically assessing test results. Strengthen clinical and client relationships by providing expert consultation and communicating with clinicians and stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement and organisational effectiveness by identifying risks, leading audits and promoting a culture of quality and safety. About You Hold a MSc or PhD in a scientific discipline relevant to pathology with advanced technical and theoretical expertise in molecular diagnostics. Extensive hands‑on experience in molecular biology techniques, including PCR, next‑generation sequencing and bioinformatics analysis. Proven leadership experience within a pathology laboratory, managing teams and upholding quality and safety standards. Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory regulations and accreditation standards, ensuring full compliance. Proactive communicator, collaborative team member committed to a supportive, high‑performing laboratory environment.
