Employment Law - Litigation Employer Defense Attorney / Employment Law - Management (Compliance & Counseling) Attorney in Melbourne, Victoria Job Title: Solicitor / Senior Solicitor, Workplace Relations Job Responsibilities: The successful candidate will join the Workplace Relations and Occupational Safety Team at the organization, a high-performing group of 20 lawyers. The team provides specialist legal services to the Victorian Government and the broader Victorian Public Sector, focusing on employment, industrial, discrimination, and occupational health and safety practice. The role involves both litigious and advisory work, with opportunities to engage in matters of significant public interest. Specific responsibilities include: Interpreting enterprise agreements and managing industrial disputes. Handling employment-related litigation, including cases of unfair dismissal, general protections, sexual harassment, and discrimination claims. Providing advice on employment-related issues such as managing misconduct, performance, incapacity, workplace investigations, bullying, sexual harassment, and discrimination complaints. Offering advice on public law-related matters, including those related to Victorian Public Service/Sector executives and machinery of government processes. Addressing occupational health and safety matters. Education and Experience Information: Candidates must have at least one year of Post Qualification Experience (PQE) in workplace relations and/or occupational health and safety law. The role requires: Strong legal research and analytical skills, with the capability to navigate complex legal issues. Well-developed written and oral communication skills to deliver clear, authoritative, and client-tailored advice. Excellent interpersonal and client relationship management skills, with a collaborative and professional approach. Experience in workplace relations and/or occupational health and safety law. Salary Information: The salary range for this position is VPS 3/4/5 $79,122 - $136,747 plus superannuation per annum, depending on experience.
