Patient Liaison Officer page is loaded## Patient Liaison Officerlocations: Geelong, Victoriatime type: Part timeposted on: Posted Todaytime left to apply: End Date: December 17, 2025 (13 days left to apply)job requisition id: JR-14212**Your role at St John of God** **Geelong Hospital****We have two opportunities available, one is a permanent part time and the other a 12 month fixed term part time role** working as a team member of the Patient Services Department, responsible for acting as the key contact point for patients, clinicians, managers and health funds in regard to a patient’s pre-admission, admission, discharge, billing and debtors follow up.**The Position*** Ensure maintenance of accurate and current information within the Patient Administration systems.* Co-ordinate patient admission process, completing required financial/admission paperwork as well as ensuring all health fund requirements have been met, and working with other departments to ensure efficient patient flow and experience.* Resolution of patient queries as they arise regarding their cover, at the admission centre, phone or on the ward & other areas of the hospital.* Demonstrate and maintain extensive knowledge of Health fund contract requirements and associated processes and procedures - including banding and classifications, default benefits and DRG case payments.* Clearly identify and communicate relevant Health Fund information and associated financial considerations to patients and key stakeholders.* Contacting health funds to discuss and acquire accurate information and clarification in regard to a patient's level of cover.* Provide accurate quotations of out-of-pocket expenses for both self-funding and insured patients, through knowledge of health fund policies, key relationships such as doctors rooms.* Liaising with doctors’ secretaries and specialist nurses to obtain item numbers and prosthesis amounts to accurately quote for those items.* Maintain key stakeholder relationships, such as liaison with Health Funds, doctors & their staff, specialist nurses, other departments and the public to maintain and promote harmonious interpersonal relationships and effective teamwork.* Liaise each day with clinical manager of DSU and Pre-Admissions Manager to obtain required arrival time for the following day- this is critical to ensure patient flow.* Cash/payment management responsibilities including collection of payment from patients and completing banking for the day.You will have excellent communication skills, both oral and written and the ability to relate to hospital staff, patients, families and medical staff.To succeed you will be able to prioritise a busy and varied workload and work unsupervised.Above all, patient care will be at the core of everything you do committing to and supporting our Mission and Values.**We can offer you*** **Salary**: $61,403 to $63,133 (pro rata for part time) per annum plus 12% superannuation* A permanent part time and a fixed term part time position working 30 hours per week* Salary packaging up to **$18,550** on a range of benefits such as mortgage, rent, meal entertainment, holiday accommodation or other everyday living expenses as well as options to salary package benefits above the FBT cap on items such as: + Novated leasing + work related expenses + self-education and + additional superannuation* A healthy work-life balance through flexible work options and well-being programs* Employee discount on St John of God Hospital & Medical Services and Private Health Insurance* Innovative Professional Development opportunities* Access to a range of Lifestyle, Health & Wellbeing rewards and discounts**Please state in your application whether your preference for permanent or fixed term role**.For enquiries, contact Melanie Brame, Manager Patient Administration on If suitable applicants are identified advertisement may close prior to listed date and screening/interviews may commence throughout the advertising process.*At St John of God Health Care, we celebrate diversity and warmly welcome applications from people of all backgrounds.**Our commitment is to create a safe and nurturing environment for all children and vulnerable individuals in our care and proactively take steps to protect them from abuse, ensuring their safety and well-being.**Our inclusive culture fosters an environment that is respectful and secure, welcoming and accessible, and unified through our diverse community.**All caregivers employed by St John of God Health Care are required to be vaccinated from Influenza in order to fulfil the requirements of the role.*At St John of God Health Care we support you to be the best health care professional or support worker you can be.
