Join to apply for the Underwriter role at Ecclesiastical Insurance UK Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday Duration: Permanent Location: Melbourne or Adelaide Job Ref: REQ About the role Ansvar Australia , part of the Benefact Group , seeks an Underwriter for our Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane offices. This role lets you write multiline business across a diverse mid‑market portfolio, offering exposure to multiple product areas and broadening underwriting expertise. You’ll have genuine autonomy in underwriting medium to complex risks while working with an experienced team. The role combines technical underwriting excellence with relationship building – you’ll regularly visit brokers and clients across the Southern Region. Key responsibilities Assist in the growth and maintenance of profitable, sustainable business within the allocated region(s) portfolio. Undertake personal underwriting of schemes and medium to large sized policies, including new business. Deliver professional and efficient customer service to brokers, distribution partners, and internal colleagues. Assist the Commercial Team Leader, Southern Region Manager and wider Underwriting & Distribution team in maximising the profitability of Ansvar’s portfolio. Knowledge, skills and experience Multi-line property and casualty experience (or a hunger to develop it – training provided). Broker relationship skills – building genuine connections. Commercial lines expertise with at least 2 years of underwriting and business development experience. Natural relationship builder who thrives in a collaborative, positive environment.
