Our Bupa APAC Technology Strategy places modern engineering practices at the heart of how we transform the speed and quality of delivery. With this strategy in place, we now have a newly created role for a Chief Software Engineer to join our leadership team. You’ll hold a pivotal leadership position with the responsibility of overseeing and shaping the technical direction, strategy, and execution of the organisation's software engineering capabilities. Your visionary leadership balanced with your technical expertise will enable you to foster innovation, and promoting collaboration, ultimately enhancing engineering maturity and enabling software teams to deliver high‑quality products and services that drive the organisation's success. Reporting to our Chief Technology & Architecture Officer this is a fantastic role where you still lead & drive the three‑to‑five‑year arc to uplift the engineering practices at Bupa. Motivating, coaching and influencing will be key to your success. We are aware that we are fast approaching the end of the year and people will be taking well deserved holidays with this in mind please be aware the detailed interview & selection process may carry over to 2024. To be successful in this role you’ll need: Responsibilities Extensive & relevant experience in software architecture, design, development, and engineering in large complex environments Direct experience as a technical practitioner with hands‑on expertise of the technology delivery process and SDLC Excellent team and talent development skills, with evidence of having established high performing technology teams Significant experience coaching technical practitioners for performance Experience working within matrix structures, with demonstrated ability to broker outcomes effectively and collaboratively with colleagues and peers Experience working with delivery and collaboration toolsets, especially work systems e.g., MS Azure DevOps, Atlassian, etc Commercial experience managing budgets, planning and optimisation Qualifications Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate discipline or equivalent professional experience (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering) Professional qualifications – certifications in technology systems management as appropriate Benefits As well as a competitive salary, a range of Bupa benefits and flexible working / work from home, you’ll be challenged and encouraged to innovate.
