Engineers are empowered sources of ideas and follow the Full Cycle model – Design, Build, Challenge, Run. Overview A significant opportunity to help craft Engineering at Commonwealth Bank. You will be impactful and deliver Engineering at scale, making a material difference to our customers, employees and the community. Key Responsibilities Lead technical strategy and drive solutions for complex business problems. Mentor and inspire engineers, fostering a culture of world‑class applications. Ensure security‑first mindset, guiding teams through DevSecOps practices and integrating security from the start. Address technical debt pragmatically, balancing commercial needs and technical priorities. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to build dependable, seamless digital experiences. Required Qualifications Proven experience building large‑scale enterprise software. Strong technical foundation and breadth across engineering domains. Successful track record leading teams through multi‑year builds; experience as a CTO, Head of Engineering or equivalent at an enterprise level is a plus. Hands‑on experience guiding teams in a DevSecOps model. Ability to form and execute a clear technical direction and strategy. Track record of solving complex technical challenges, including new tooling implementation and system sunset. Encourages risk‑taking, challenges status‑quo constructively, and fosters collaboration across diverse teams. Essential Skills Building applications on‑premise and in cloud environments; language agnostic but familiar with frontend (React, Angular, mobile native), backend (Java, Typescript, .NET Core, C#) and database technologies. Designing and implementing large‑scale systems. Collaborating with DevSecOps teams; ensuring automated testing, quality, and observability. Maintaining code quality through peer programming, code reviews, and automated release management. Strong application security and resilience focus.
