Staff Specialist - Clinical Haematologist ) Department of Health Tasmania – Melbourne VIC The Royal Hobart Hospital is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicantsfor a Staff Specialist Haematologist vacancy. This position is fixed term (0.8 FTE) for 12 months and involves the provision of both clinical and laboratory services so would suit a dual qualified haematologist. Suitable applicants should be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA). Who are we? As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. The Haematology Department provides comprehensive care to Tasmanian patients with benign and malignant blood disorders. Haematologists work in a multidisciplinary team and supervise advanced trainees and junior doctors. The culture of the unit is highly supportive and focussed on excellent patient care. There is also an active clinical trials unit. Tasmanian | The quiet pursuit of the extraordinary The Role Provide consultant services in haematology for the care of inpatients and outpatients at the RHH, and where appropriate, in other hospitals across Tasmania. Participate in the diagnostic haematology services of the RHH. Supervise doctors in training in the delivery of care. 2. Teaching: Provide undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in haematology. Provide training to postgraduate specialist trainees. 3. Quality Improvement: Participate in continuous quality improvement activities. Monitor the effectiveness of the services provided to patients. 4. Research: Maintain an active involvement in research activities. 5. Administration and Management: Provide administrative functions and participate in Hospital committee matters as required by the Executive Director Medical Services, the Chief Medical Officer or the Staff Specialist - Head of Unit Clinical Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Represent the Hospital on relevant Statewide or National Committees, as required. Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, laboratory staff and other health professionals. 6. Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training. 7. Make It Tasmania | Move for a great lifestyle Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiatedwith the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority. Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available. Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 - $310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022 In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year). Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,974 pro rata per annum. On call allowance % of Base Salary. All other allowances as per current Award. And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid. Other Benefits: You will have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. Fitness Passport – You, and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family. You will also have access to accommodation and relocation costs. Details of Appointment Fixed term, part-time (0.8 FTE) day work (with on-call), working 60.8 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible from 5 January 2026 until 3 January 2027.
