YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE Occupational Therapist Grade 3 – Ongoing, Part Time Role • 45.6 hours per fortnight• Parkville location• Salary between $104,135 to $118,981 (pro‑rated for part time) depending on experience This is a Senior Clinician (Grade 3) Occupational Therapy – Part Time, 3 days per week. It will provide a dynamic and highly motivated applicant with an opportunity to contribute to the care delivered in this specialist hospital. You will help patients maximise independence, safety, comfort and personal satisfaction and, in doing so, improve their sense of wellbeing and quality of life. Your role will include inpatient and outpatient clinical care as well as a broad range of leadership opportunities. Relevant clinical experience in acute oncology and haematology. Experience in service planning, development and evaluation. Strong quality improvement, education and leadership skills. Strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills. Knowledge/experience at a senior Allied Health level in cancer care. EDUCATION Post Graduate Qualification in Occupational Therapy. Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. SKILLS Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor, Masters or equivalent). Current AHPRA Occupational Therapy registration. A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience as a practicing physiotherapist with specialist experience in oncology. Ability to provide clinical supervision and staff support. Experience supervising students and junior occupational therapists. Ability to initiate research and/or projects. Excellent communication skills, computer literacy, interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education and professional development, particularly in oncology. Demonstrated occupational therapy assessment and practical experience in a wide variety of acute conditions, preferably within cancer populations. An enthusiasm for working in multi‑disciplinary teams. Reliable, flexible and conscientious approach to patient management and workplace issues. Advanced level of interpersonal and conflict management skills. Demonstrated organisational, time management, planning and priority setting skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team. Meet the standards in the Code of Conduct of OT Australia. Ability to consult and adapt treatments to the special needs of oncology patients. Interest or experience in an acute cancer care. Clinical experience in the delivery of occupational therapy services in acute cancer care, lymphoedema management and other health care settings. A wide range of acute clinical skills and experience (in particular, acute cancer care, palliative care and rehabilitation). Expertise and interest in quality, research methodology and program evaluation. Post graduate qualifications in occupational therapy, lymphoedema or related field. Ability to conduct a literature search and appraisal. Experience working or placement in an acute care setting. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES & REGISTRATIONS AHPRA Registration. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES PROFESSIONAL Provides support to the Grade 4 Clinical Lead, in the provision of a professional service to the organization. Works effectively as a member of the discipline team. Acts according to professional and ethical standards complying with the code of ethics and legal requirements of the profession. Communicates in a timely and effective manner to Gr 4 Clinical Lead. Provides clinical leadership to physiotherapy and occupational therapy team, including assistants, students and casual staff. Provides expertise and leadership in cross‑departmental projects/committees. Participates in regular supervision. Attends and documents continuing professional development to the registration standard of AHPRA and Peter Mac policies. Provides and assists with supervision of staff and students. Knowledge of the principles and application of relevant legislation and policies. Represent the occupational therapy and physiotherapy department at various organisational events and hospital committees as required. Provide leadership in departmental implementation of organisational strategies and objectives. Provide up to date staffing rosters ensuring adequate cover provided. Liaise with the head of department, clinical lead, Nurse Managers, Allied Health Managers and Access Managers in relation to staffing shortages. Demonstrates the ability to function independently as an occupational therapist. Maintains appropriate records. As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, provides specialist consultation and advice to other staff on treatment interventions. Assists in the planning, evaluation and development of clinical service delivery. Exercises a high level of interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with consumers, carers, family members, members of the general community and other professionals. Demonstrates experience and skill in clinical interventions. Provides assessment and evidence based treatment and advice to individuals, couples, families and groups. Completes patient records and statistics on the same day of appointment. Demonstrates high level communication skills and ability to work effectively with members of the MDT. Acts as a clinical resource within the organisation. Provides clinical opinion and guidance in complex cases. Contributes to the development and review of relevant organisational policies and clinical guidelines. Prioritises clinical caseload using appropriate strategies. EDUCATION & RESEARCH Contributes to the training and supervision of students and clinical staff as appropriate. Provides education to multidisciplinary teams, the organization and community organisations. Participates in research and quality projects. Active participation in undergraduate / postgraduate student programme, e.g. supervision, education and liaison with the University supervisor. Supervises junior staff including documentation of development plans. Gives educational presentations as appropriate. Undertakes training to maintain up to date knowledge of latest clinical practice. Completes and/or leads 1‑2 quality or research improvement projects per annum and is encouraged to submit for conference presentations. Involvement in Departmental research activity as appropriate. Presentation and participation in conferences and other development opportunities as available. Participation and leadership role in professional body special interest group activity. Maintenance of up to date KPI data collection & reporting. Development and implementation of relevant outcome measures for departmental activity, in particular in the form of new KPIs. Establishment and implementation of clinical audit projects and other departmental and multi‑disciplinary quality activities. Leadership and coordination of the training and education of other staff groups within the organisation on occupational therapy related topics, e.g. manual handling; fatigue management. Coordination of student placements (in conjunction with Grade 2). Support and promote the capacity of AHA, Grade 1 and 2 staff to deliver student supervision and training. Provide student training and supervision. CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT & INFECTION CONTROL Adheres to the principles of Infection Control in accordance with Peter Mac policies and procedures. OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY Takes all reasonable steps to ensure a safe environment. Understands emergency procedures and location of emergency equipment. PRIVACY Adheres to the Peter Mac privacy policy. Complies with Infection Control policies and procedures 100% of the time. Completes incident reports 100% of the time and responds appropriately to OH&S incidents. Completes mandatory training for OH&S. HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Complies with Peter Mac policies to maintain a safe workplace. Participates in and/or conducts annual performance development and review on 100% of staff supervised.
