About the School Elisabeth Murdoch College (EMC) is a co‑educational secondary college, Years 7‑12, located in Langwarrin, with a student population of 1,620. The college is committed to developing each student as a whole child, building relationships and providing opportunities that position students for success. Our key priority areas are Literacy, Student Engagement in Learning, and Community Engagement. We focus on literacy through the 3L Literacy for Learning framework and school‑wide Positive Behaviours. We adopt evidence‑based strategies to support students’ social and emotional learning. EMC is a lead school for the Department of Education Respectful Relationships initiative and runs a newly established Inclusive Education team. We maintain strong community links and celebrate our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through the Reconciliation Action Plan. Values: R each E mpowerment A spiration C ourage H onesty Position Overview The Health Promotion Project Officer will coordinate, implement and evaluate whole‑school health and wellbeing initiatives at Elisabeth Murdoch College, focusing on strengthening preventative practices, enhancing early intervention capacity and building sustainable systems that support long‑term student health and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Lead planning, implementation and evaluation of whole‑school health promotion initiatives. Provide leadership in the ongoing development, consolidation and forward planning of Respectful Relationships as a whole‑school initiative. Support staff and students to navigate new social media laws and strengthen school capacity to manage associated wellbeing, safety and legal implications. Analyse wellbeing data to guide targeted interventions and support early intervention. Develop a two‑year EMC Health Promotion Plan and contribute to whole‑school strategic planning. Collaborate with relevant internal and external teams on agreed project deliverables. Facilitate student voice and deliver health education to small groups and large cohorts. Strengthen preventative programmes including small group interventions and Brekkie Club. Coordinate health and inclusion focused awareness events across the school calendar. Build staff capability through training, coaching and development of health promotion resources. Strengthen partnerships, referral pathways and collaborations with community health organisations and explore funding opportunities. Contribute to policy development, record keeping, reporting and multidisciplinary team processes. Participate in staff meetings, training and relevant school or community events. Selection Criteria KSC 1: Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating whole‑school or community‑based health promotion strategies within education or youth settings. KSC 2: Well developed project management skills including planning, delivery and capability building. KSC 3: Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to interpret data to inform practice. KSC 4: Highly developed communication, interpersonal and networking skills with a demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with students, parents and carers, school‑based teams and teachers, education support staff and other professional agencies. KSC 5: Demonstrated capacity to reflect critically upon their own professional practice and apply the knowledge, skills and expertise derived from ongoing professional learning. KSC 6: Knowledge and understanding of Child Safe Standards. Qualifications and Experience Tertiary qualifications in public health, health promotion, social sciences or a related discipline or demonstrated relevant experience. Demonstrated experience in health promotion project management, preferably in promoting health promotion practice to an education audience. Additional hours may be required (time‑in‑lieu policy applies). Full time commitment of 38 hours per week. Must hold an Employee Working with Children Check. Successful applicant may be required to start the Brekkie Club (8 am) one to two days per week. Reporting To Head of Wellbeing and Support Principal Conditions of Employment All staff are entitled to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements.
