Snøhetta Australasia is seeking a Project Director(Architecture) to join our leadership team based in Melbourne. This role is pivotal in ensuring design excellence across our projects, with a strong focus on sustainability, materiality, and rigorous design review processes. You will also act as Project Director on select projects, guiding them from concept through delivery. Main Responsibilities Champion design quality and sustainability across the studio’s project portfolio, ensuring projects deliver on scope, time, budget, and with exceptional design outcomes. Lead and facilitate design reviews at critical stages, embedding Snøhetta’s values of innovation and responsibility. Ensure project leaders have the tools and processes needed to achieve design and operational goals. Drive sustainability strategies and material innovation across all projects. Act as Project Director on select projects, providing leadership and strategic oversight from concept to completion. Contribute to internal design governance frameworks and quality assurance processes. Support the Managing Director and leadership group in shaping studio culture and project delivery excellence. Main Tasks Lead design review sessions, ensuring alignment with design intent and sustainability objectives. Provide guidance on material selection and detailing to achieve high-quality, sustainable outcomes. Be an escalation point for and support Project Leaders on design and delivery challenges. Support client dialogue where needed and represent Snøhetta’s design values externally. Take on the formal role of Project Director for select projects. Run design-focused forums and knowledge-sharing sessions within the studio. Collaborate with the Managing Director to develop and implement project processes and design governance. Support studio acquisition activities and contribute to thought leadership in sustainability and design innovation. About You Extensive experience in architecture or design leadership roles, spanning concept to delivery . Strong preference for candidates with international design studio experience , bringing global perspectives and best practices. Demonstrated expertise in heritage buildings , including adaptive reuse and conservation strategies. Exceptional design sensibility with a critical eye for detail and materiality. Strong knowledge of sustainable design principles, certifications, and performance metrics. Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex projects. Excellent communication and facilitation skills for design reviews and client engagement. Why Snøhetta?
