About The Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HSE Specialist to join our growing team and play a pivotal role in shaping the group HSE function of our business. Reporting directly to the HSE Manager, this senior position will support a small but dedicated team of field HSE Advisors while providing strategic and operational HSE support to our Construction teams. This is a leadership role with real impact—where you’ll combine strategic oversight with hands‑on involvement to embed a strong safety culture across our projects. Primarily based in Brisbane, this role includes occasional travel to project sites. The amount of travel will depend on project requirements and can be scheduled with consideration for your time away from home. In This Role, You Will Collaborate closely with field HSE Advisors and Construction management teams. Oversee the implementation, assist in the development and review HSEQ plans, policies and processes to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. Take ownership of contract reviews, ensuring alignment with organisational HSE objectives and obligations. Lead and participate in the audits, including internal and external audits, and ensure effective action plans are developed and implemented. Provide training and support related to HSEQ processes, systems to construction teams. Lead and conduct incident investigations, analysing root causes and developing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Prepare and maintain documentation related to HSEQ compliance and incident investigation. Monitor and report on HSEQ performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement. Facilitate communication between field teams and management regarding HSEQ issues and initiatives. About You Minimum 7+ years’ experience in HSE, within construction, mining, or industrial sectors, with onsite exposure and experience in high‑risk operations. Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety as a minimum. Certificate IV in Training & Assessment desirable. Competency in issuing work permits (or willingness to obtain) and experience as a permit authority/issuer. Qualification in incident root cause analysis (ICAM, TapRoot). General Construction Induction Card. Open, unrestricted Australian driver’s licence. Current First Aid and CPR certifications. Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 standards. OFSC experience desirable. Experience leading audits and implementing corrective actions – desirable. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HSEQ software.
