About the role The Therapeutic Case Manager (IFP) supports vulnerable families to maintain care of their children (0‑17 years) for a period of 6 to 9 months. The Therapeutic Case Manager will work intensively with children, families and other stakeholders to support clients within the program. The key focus area of the role will be: Providing holistic and person‑centered case management through the use of therapeutic interventions, evidence‑based assessment tools, parent education, home visiting, referrals to external services, advocacy and outreach support to children, young people and families. You will be responsible for: Develop strengths‑based case plans for families in collaboration with stakeholders and provide ongoing therapeutic intervention and case management support to enact case plan goals. Engage with children/young people and their families to undertake assessments to identify their needs. Assist in the preservation of families who are at risk of entering the child protection system. Support the restoration of children/young people to their families. Work in partnership with the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) to ensure the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children. About you To be a successful candidate, you will have: Tertiary qualification (bachelor's degree) in a relevant discipline in social work, community services, psychology, family therapy or equivalent. Experience working with and providing quality assessment and case management services to families in contact with the child protection system. Demonstrated understanding of the principles of contemporary case management practice. Ability to manage cultural complexities of people from different Aboriginal lands. Strong time‑management skills and ability to work independently and prioritise tasks. Demonstrated conflict resolution and mediation skills. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. High level oral and written communication skills, ability to prepare reports and correspondence to a high standard for a range of audiences. Proficiency in using computer applications including Microsoft Office, client/data management systems and willingness to learn new programs. Demonstrated experience in trauma‑informed practice. Strong understanding of the relevant legislation related to child protection. Demonstrated experience working with culturally diverse clients and families. Commitment to working within a diverse and inclusive environment. Current Working with Children Check clearance and Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC). Current and valid Driver’s Licence and access to a well‑maintained and comprehensively insured vehicle which can be used for work purposes. Ability to undertake the duties of the role in accordance with Family Spirit’s mission, vision and values.
