Food Service Assistant Fronditha Care is an award‑winning not‑for‑profit aged care provider specialising in culturally sensitive care for over 46 years. We offer a wide range of aged care services across our five residential facilities in Melbourne and Newcastle. We’re excited to offer multiple casual opportunities for passionate Food Services Assistants to join our team in Newcastle. In this hands‑on role, you’ll help prepare and serve nutritious, well‑presented meals that celebrate our residents’ cultural traditions and create a warm, homelike dining experience each day. Day‑to‑day Responsibilities Plan, prepare and cook meals for care recipients. Food preparation: cutting, chopping, slicing, etc. Load and push food trolleys, dishwashers and commercial ovens. Transfer large cooking pots from oven to bench and sink. Maintain high hygiene standards and comply with food safety regulations. Set and arrange tables and chairs as per procedures. Wash dishes, clean workbenches and keep kitchen and dining area tidy. Report faulty kitchen equipment and uphold safety standards. Oversee documentation related to food safety, meal records and stock levels. Participate in continuous improvement processes to enhance service quality. Qualifications and Experience Food handling certificate (essential). Minimum 1 year experience in the aged‑care sector. Proven skills in infection control and safe food handling. Proficiency in communication and teamwork. Preferred background in aged care or related field. NSW Food Safety Supervisor certification. Cert III in Commercial Cookery (preferred). Availability to work weekends and afternoon shifts. OH&S Responsibility Observe and abide by all OH&S and WorkSafe regulations. Report potential hazards or breaches to direct management immediately. Take appropriate actions to remove or reduce hazards or risks. Report observed breaches of OH&S policies by other staff to senior management.
