Job Overview We are seeking a Mental Health Clinician Level 3 – Youth Response Team and Safe Haven clinician to provide after‑hours rapid crisis response to young people (12‑17 years) in suicidal distress across multiple locations within the Northern Sydney Local Health District. Employment Details Type : Permanent Part Time Classification : Dependent on qualification Hours per week : 11 Salary (per hour) : Clinical Nurse Specialist (Grade 2): $58.83 - $60.76 Clinical Psychologist: $57.30 - $69.84 Allied Health Professional (Level 3): $58.95 - $60.86 Locations : Macquarie Hospital, Mona Vale Hospital, Brookvale Community Health Centre (Safe Haven), and Youth Response Team in North Ryde and Mona Vale. Key Responsibilities Provide after‑hours rapid crisis response and trauma‑informed clinical care for young people in suicidal crisis. Deliver crisis response, psychosocial support, safety planning, recovery/wellness planning, advocacy, and community support identification. Conduct risk assessment, care planning, referrals and liaise with signatories under the NSW Mental Health Act (2007). Implement step‑up/step‑down care principles, making referrals to community services or escalating to acute/emergency services as needed. Collaborate with the Towards Zero Suicide working group for co‑design, phased development and evaluation of care models. Work autonomously with minimal direct supervision, applying specialist knowledge in suicidal person care, focusing on 12‑17 year olds. Engage in suicide prevention co‑design, community of practice and education and training. Qualifications & Experience Consistently demonstrates CORE Values: Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment with all stakeholders. Recognised qualifications in Social Work, Nursing, Psychology or Occupational Therapy and registration with AHPRA or eligibility for membership of AASW. Post‑graduate clinical experience in mental health—psychologists require a relevant Master’s degree; allied health requires Level 2 clinician experience or equivalent; nursing requires post‑registration qualifications and at least 3 years’ experience. Current mental health, drug and alcohol clinical knowledge and advanced practice skills, with a commitment to continued professional development focusing on child, adolescent and family groups. Willingness to engage in suicide prevention co‑design, community practice and educational training. People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are strongly encouraged to apply.
