About The Service The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and you do not need an appointment, referral or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The new services in Devonport, Burnie and Outer Hobart are co-funded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments, to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country. The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peer-integrated recovery and clinical support. The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe, welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress, allowing them to: Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community, outside a clinical setting On Offer Based in Burnie, TAS Permanent, full-time opportunity available Paying on HPSS Level 3 (above award payment for highly experienced clinicians) plus Super Salary Packaging options (up to $15,899 tax free) Meals and entertainment allowance of up to $2,650 Leave loading at 17.5% Stride Rewards – access to discounts from 100s of retailers (fashion, food and fitness) One paid wellbeing leave day per year Purchase up to 5 additional leave days in a 12-month period (pro rata entitlement if part-time) Paid parental leave support Supportive team environment Excellent training and career development Role Overview As part of the multidisciplinary team, the Clinician will provide focused psychological strategies tailored to meet the individual needs of people accessing the service within a community based mental health care setting. As well as working with relevant service systems to respond appropriately to their mental health and developmental needs. Provide comprehensive assessment, brief and ongoing interventions, risk management and care planning Work collaboratively across health service networks to plan and coordinate individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of people with mental health issues based on a case formulation approach Work cooperatively and effectively through active participation within the multidisciplinary mental health team, the profession specific network and with consumers, families/carers and extended agencies Requirements Must have one of the following: General AHPRA registration as a Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Mental Health Occupational Therapist OR Mental Health Nurse OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker Demonstrated a comprehensive level of knowledge, expertise and skill; specifically, Brief Intervention Models of Care Commitment to professional development and willingness to participate in a continuous learning environment Well-developed judgment and evaluation skills demonstrating a working understanding assessment and care planning Sound understanding of the public, non-government and private mental health systems and programs and associated non-mental health programs in a community setting Ideally demonstrated experience in providing alcohol and other drugs (AOD) counselling and support Demonstrated interpersonal skills showing an ability and sensitivity to work with people who have or are at risk of developing a mental illness Proven ability to work creatively, collaboratively and effectively as a member of a team Demonstrated skills in organisation and time-management, including the ability to work under pressure and balance multiple tasks Excellent verbal communication and writing skills Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance Stride is committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable people.
