The role: We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team specialising in the management of chronic liver disease. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will play an important role in coordinating, assessing, planning, and implementing care for patients diagnosed with liver disease across outpatient and inpatient settings. Your responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive patient assessments, performing physical examinations, and utilising liver stiffness measurements to support treatment decisions. Collaborating closely with our Nurse Practitioner and medical specialists, you will participate in the development of tailored care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a keen interest in or possess experience with managing chronic liver disease. Organisational skills, computer literacy, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential. While prior knowledge of liver disease is advantageous, we provide comprehensive training and support to ensure your professional growth. You will have the opportunity to expand your clinical skills, including the administration of specialised tests within our service.
This part-time position offers day shifts, Monday to Friday, with flexible hours between (7:00 - 16:30). There may be opportunities to take on extra shifts within our Gastroenterology Department to cover leave, providing further professional development and exposure.
Where you'll be working: This is an opportunity to work for the largest employer in the region which services a population of more than 900,000 across the Hunter, New England, and Lower Mid North Coast areas. John Hunter Hospital is a Level 6, tertiary referral, major trauma and teaching hospital and is the largest hospital in the Hunter New England Local Health District.

The John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct project will deliver an innovative and integrated precinct with industry-leading facilities. The project will work in collaboration with health, education, and research partners to meet the current and future needs of the greater Newcastle, Hunter New England, and Northern NSW regions.
