About the Role Reporting to the Assistant Principal the new Wellbeing Officer position will play a central role in nurturing a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment where every student is valued, connected, and empowered to thrive. The key focus of your role will be the day-to-day social, emotional, and pastoral support of our students, ensuring they feel heard, understood, and equipped with strategies to manage challenges. You will also drive preventative wellbeing programs, early intervention supports, and community partnerships that strengthen student resilience and promote positive mental health across the school community. Full time, Permanent, Term Time Role Key functions Impact - Foster student wellbeing, resilience, and connectedness through targeted support, education, and preventative initiatives. Support - Provide one-on-one pastoral support to students experiencing social, emotional, or wellbeing challenges, using active listening, mentoring, and strengths-based approaches. Engagement - Design and facilitate group programs, lunchtime clubs, and whole-school events that build community and encourage inclusion. About You To be successful in this role you will bring the following skills and experience: Minimum Certificate IV qualification in Youth Work, Pastoral Care, or a related field, including at least two units in mental health support, referral processes, and youth engagement. Demonstrated experience supporting young people in an educational, youth work, or community setting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively and effectively with adolescents. Solid understanding of adolescent development, wellbeing needs, and early intervention strategies. Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary school team and with external support agencies. High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural responsiveness. Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card). Qualifications in youth work, community services, chaplaincy, social sciences, or a related field. Experience designing and facilitating wellbeing, inclusion, or engagement programs for young people. Knowledge of referral pathways, support services, and community-based youth networks.
