This position plays a key role in delivering a major Active Directory migration, uplifting server environments, and supporting the organisation’s broader infrastructure roadmap. The Senior Server Engineer will provide specialist technical expertise, lead troubleshooting activities, and contribute to architectural design and documentation. The role also works closely with internal stakeholders, system owners and external vendors to ensure consistent service delivery and adherence to safety, environmental and quality standards. What you’ll do Design, implement and maintain Windows Server and Active Directory environments, including support for migration to a new AD Forest in a sensitive, high-availability setting. Design, implement and manage VMware virtualisation infrastructure aligned with VMware and ASD best practices. Implement and maintain security remediation and uplift in line with ASD and organisational security requirements. Utilise monitoring, vulnerability scanning and fault-analysis tools to troubleshoot and optimise server environments. Install, customise and maintain Windows Server operating systems and server hardware to meet performance and service level expectations. Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues collaboratively with internal teams, clients, vendors and external service providers. Produce and maintain technical documentation, including architecture, as-built and configuration documentation. Work closely with stakeholders and system owners across multidisciplinary teams. Carry out duties in line with organisational safety, environmental and quality policies, values and strategies. What you’ll bring Essential Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with Windows Server and Active Directory administration following Microsoft and ASD guidelines. Demonstrated experience performing Active Directory migrations in high‑availability environments. Demonstrated experience implementing and managing VMware virtualisation environments (ESXi, vCentre) following VMware and ASD recommendations. High attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing. Ability to operate in accordance with organisational safety, environmental and quality frameworks. Desirable: Understanding of ITIL frameworks and service management principles. Familiarity with Operational Technology (OT) environments and constraints (SCADA, DCS, PLC).
