Senior Server Engineer Location: Davidson, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia About the Company Davidson Technology is working with a large Federal Government Agency to secure a Senior Server Engineer based in Darwin, who will provide specialist Windows Server, Active Directory and VMware administration services as part of a team to build, manage and maintain the organisation's application-hosting environment. About the Role As the Senior Server Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation's server and virtualisation environments to ensure stable, secure, resilient, and high-performing IT and Operational Technology services. You will deliver specialist expertise across Windows Server, Active Directory, and VMware, including supporting the migration of workloads to a new Active Directory Forest in a sensitive, high-availability setting. You'll apply National and organisational security requirements, troubleshoot complex technical issues, manage server hardware and operating systems, and utilise monitoring, vulnerability, and fault-analysis tools to optimise operations. Working closely with stakeholders and multi-disciplinary teams, you will develop comprehensive architectural and as-built documentation while aligning all activities with organisational safety, environmental, quality, and governance expectations. About You To be successful in this role, you'll be a highly skilled infrastructure specialist with demonstrated experience implementing and managing Windows Server, Active Directory, and VMware environments in line with Microsoft, VMware, and organisational recommendations, including performing complex Active Directory migrations within high-availability environments. You'll combine strong technical capability with exceptional attention to detail, clear communication, and well-developed technical writing skills to effectively engage stakeholders and clients. You will operate in alignment with the organisation's safety, environmental, and quality policies, as well as its corporate values and strategies. Bringing a sound understanding of ITIL frameworks, familiarity with operational technology environments such as SCADA, DCS, and PLC systems, and holding relevant industry certifications such as AZ‑800/801, MCSA, MCSE, or VCP‑DCV, you'll contribute deep expertise and disciplined professionalism to the organisation's infrastructure operations.
