Job tasks and responsibilities The Library Assistant (part-time) is responsible for the day-to-day management of the STEAM Centre and Library. This includes the supervision of students in the library at break times and before and after school, managing resources, including library book returns and borrowing, photocopying and displays, as well as maintaining facilities and equipment. Ability to work part-time, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm two days per week, during term time only. Manage and apply timetabled classroom bookings to support teachers and students. Check library materials in and out of the library. Ability to accurately return books to shelves using the Dewey library system. Oversee and monitor students in the STEAM Library Centre. Maintain and monitor the before and after school hours supervision sign in procedure. Supervisor students, monitor and address behavior to ensure behavioural expectations and dress standards of the School are met in the library environment. Manage enquiries and correspondence. Assist with administration tasks as directed by the Deputy Principal and Library Coordinator. The Library Assistant must be able to carry out these duties with limited supervision. The Library Assistant must display the affective attributes of warmth, teamwork, and a flexible attitude. Some knowledge of Library processes will be highly regarded, especially the Oliver system. Skills and experience Certificate III in Education will be highly regarded. Library qualifications will be highly regarded. Previous experience working with children is highly regarded. Demonstrated high-level organisational skills. Demonstrated use of initiative. Flexible and proactive, with strong interpersonal skills and a team player. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Warm, friendly and support approach with students. Expressions of interest Should be addressed to: The Principal, Mr Andrew Wheaton.
