What is the opportunity?
The Technology Investment Banking team is actively looking for an Analyst for our Sydney office. This is a coverage role where you will gain experience working with listed and unlisted clients across a variety of technology verticals in Australia and globally. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn technical and soft skills as part of an internationally integrated platform growing rapidly.
Mandates include listed and unlisted buy-side and sell-side M&A, takeover defence, public and private equity raisings and debt financing. As a technology coverage banker, you will develop a detailed understanding of the different verticals in tech and your role will be to work with clients, financial sponsors, founders and relevant internal product banking teams (LevFin, ECM, Corporate Banking, Risk Solutions, etc.). RBC Sydney's technology team works closely with RBC's technology teams in New York, San Francisco and Europe, and offers exposure to leading cross-border deals.
What will you do?Transaction execution, new business presentations and meetings, and other such dutiesDeveloping and reviewing financial models, conducting research and analysing data to assist senior team members to advise clientsAnalytical, due diligence and transactional support on transactions and business developmentWork with the team in the development of pitch books and related client materialsReview and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activitiesProactively identify and escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptlyBegin gaining skills to develop relationships with peers / juniors at clients, begin understanding how to develop business opportunitiesOther such duties, responsibilities and authority as may be reasonably required, consistent with your background, experience and prior business activity
What do you need to succeed?
Must-haveMinimum 1 year of relevant professional experience, preferably in IB, MBB consulting, law, Big 4 (modeling, FDD, M&A)Bachelor's degree required; commerce/law preferred. Computer science and engineering related degrees will also be considered given the team's coverage focusKnowledge of and willingness to learn about all investment banking products including M&A, equity, debt, and convertible securitiesOutstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; strong knowledge of finance and accountingStrong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task, manage conflicting priorities and prioritise deliverablesTeam player mentality with the ability to work independentlyStrong written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills with ability to create and maintain relationships at all levels of the organisationMust maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct
