Where you’ll be working Royal North Shore Hospital. What you’ll be doing The Senior Genetic Counsellor will provide genetic counselling support for the clinical geneticist led general genetics clinic and coordinate and manage genetic counsellor led clinics for patients requiring genetic counselling for diagnosed and/or well-defined genetic conditions. Qualifications and Experience A post graduate qualification in genetic counselling or have attained Part 1 certification in genetics counselling from the Human Genetics Society of Australasia. Evidence of extensive clinical experience, inclusive of experience as a Level 2 Genetic Counsellor or equivalent. Proficient written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with proven ability to liaise with novices and experienced health professionals and external service providers. Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use health information systems. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement activities or service evaluation process. Experience in clinical teaching and supervision of students, level 1/2 Allied Health Professionals and/or Allied Health Assistants. Proficient knowledge and skills in provision of current genetic counselling practice. A strong commitment to an evidence-based service to provide assessment, case management, intervention, appropriate referral and discharge planning for consumers, carers and families. Proficient in working autonomously with limited supervision; ability to prioritise work, manage a demanding workload, apply high-level reasoning skills and have independent professional judgment.
